“Israel Is We”: Jewish Americans and the New Nation State

Lecture
Online
May 18, 2023 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. ET
Miriam Mora

In the midst of the contemporary American debate about Israel, Dr. Miriam Mora centers the historical context of the creation of a Jewish Nation State in 1948, and its impact on American Jewish identity. She will explore pre-WWII American Jewish support for the Zionist idea, and then how war, the Holocaust, American isolationism, and wartime lobbying affected perceptions of Jewish nationhood—and how American Jews came to incorporate Israel into postwar daily life.
