Jean Scheinfeldt Red Cross First Aid Card, 1942. 

Jean Scheinfeldt (1924–2000), a native of Boston, earned her first aid certificate from the Red Cross at 18 years old. She served four years as an Army nurse and later worked in veterans’ hospitals. In 1961, she founded an Opening Doors Wider in Nursing (ODWIN), a non-profit dedicated to combating discrimination in nursing and providing training and guidance to disadvantaged young people interested in becoming nurses.
