1927 semi-annual report of the George Peabody Lodge, No. 667
The George Peabody Lodge, No. 667 was a branch of the Independent Order of B’rith Abraham located in Peabody, Massachusetts. The local lodge was established on January 1, 1913. It was institutionalized on February 2, 1913 and remained active until 1930. Elihu A. Hershenson served as the branch’s first president.
The organization offered sick, death, and funeral benefits to both male and female members of the Jewish community for a monthly fee of $1 for single persons and $1.75 for married couples. Meetings were held every first and third Sunday of the month at the O’Shea Building in Foresters Hall at 9 Main Street Though the organization was reportedly inactive in 1930, no official disbandment date is listed and meetings of the branch were recorded through 1932. The collection was established by the Jewish Heritage Center of the North Shore through many separate donations of materials relating to North Shore's Jewish community.
